Among the qualities listed, which quality would be the one that you need to work on the most? Why?
Being imaginative is one of the qualities I’m quite struggling at, due to the fact that I am always intact on what is the reality I am experiencing nowadays. I must say that I am a very pragmatic person. I think it is in my system that I am basing my acts on facts and how the environment is acting upon myself. I don’t want to imagine things, because for me, it just stresses me out.
Given your ratings, what keeps you from getting that 1.00 self-rating?
Nowadays, wherein you will be exposed to the harsh realities of our society, I think I developed being in touch with people by socializing with the marginalized communities, and giving the real deal and facts to people to sway them away from disinformation by writing articles and telling them verbally.
Despite all of these prominent traits that I think I possess, there are still many hindrances that prohibits me to keep me up with those qualities. Sometimes, when I am interacting with some people in the marginalized sector, there is a communication barrier that is happening because we have a different way of dealing with things, they have different culture and such. In that sense, there is a misinterpretation of the messages we convey with one another.
Moreover, on putting premium on accuracy and truth, there is non-stop emergence of false information along certain topics, which gives me a hard time to debunk it to the minds of the people through discourse, and I also need to fact check it also, which is a strenuous process alone.
Among the skills listed, which skill have you developed the highest competency? What contributed to the development of that skill?
Gathering data might be the skill that I developed the highest competency due to the fact that I was a campus journalist when I am still in the basic education institutions for almost eight years. I am a News Writer and it is my specialization from campus journalism since then.
Due to the nature of my work as a News Writer, I developed on how I will gather information, especially those relevant ones, by formulating the right questions before I conduct an interview. In that sense, I can get relevant information that I wanted to write for the enlightenment of my constituents on that issue or situation, but also putting efficiency in place both for me as a writer and also for whom I interviewed. With that sense, it saves time, engage the interviewee to meaningful conversation because they will showcase their mastery on the topic, and eliminates the awkwardness on both parties.
Among the skills listed, which skill would be the one that you need to work on the most to develop? Why?
The skill as a media writer that I must develop more is on being proficient on handling or operating with communication tools and devices. There are diverse communication tools in our field and there is a level of complexity for some tools, especially technologies are rapidly changing because we are in the era of technological advancements in our society.
I want to develop this skills more due to the fact that as a communication student, I need to be aware on what communication tools are present in the field and how should I operate or fix it. I cannot demand that this should be the equipment that I should use because there are some cases that there is a limited amount of resources in communication. I should become more flexible on using diverse communication tools to ensure that I do no waste time and efforts of me and my colleagues in the production as well.
