Data Gathering is a process of accumulating information through various medium. It comes with dignified perseverance and resourcefulness so one can present reliable information to be benefited by the masses of people. With my teammates Reinier Gaspar and Aubrey Semaning, we were assigned to create a directory of PESO, TESDA, and BFPO here in Los Baños, Laguna. Here are the following:
Method of Data Gathering
For the first option, we opted to use the internet to gather the details that we need in accordance to the assigned offices. However, we realized that some of them may be outdated. Thus, we went to their offices and had a small talk with some of the department’s officials to get the information or contact details we specifically need.
Three (3) tips on data gathering to share with the next batch of BSDC freshmen
1. Read. We should always make sure that the information we are gathering is updated and correct. As much as possible, we should not purely rely on the information from the internet for some of it are outdated and misleading. Always countercheck the gathered information and verify if there are any lacking or misspelled data.
2. Respect. Respect and good rapport are necessities in presenting yourself to the authority you want to get the information from. Do not just ask and impolitely go on your way. Introduce yourself first and always verbalize your gratefulness for their time and effort.
3. Collaborate. Credibility requires collaborative effort. So when you are tasked with groupmates, make sure to cooperate, have a voice on what needs to be tackled and help each other to come up with a better output. Having a team when gathering information makes a work easier to accomplish. And you have a back-up people in facing your respondents.
