Instruments of DevCom : Breaking Disparities, Empowering Communities

As a development communicators-in-training,   there are certain tools that we should be needing in order to address the horrors that the marginalized communities endure in their present state nowadays.
These tools will serve as our valuable assets for us to be able to produce outputs that will highlight our factual and appropriate solutions intended to combat disparity.

Here are my top 5 tools that I usually use nowadays as a development communicator-in-training:

Pen and Paper

Despite of technological advancements that gave us gadgets that are deemed essential to our daily lives, especially as development communicator-in-training, nothing beats the conventional pen and paper. People in all walks of life utilized pen and paper in centuries!  It is the most basic tool that any writer might have for him/her to jot down the important messages that a professor or an interviewee might say.
Also, in my perspective, when I wrote down things on paper, there is a higher chance that I can remember it in the future.
Come to think of this, isn’t it gives the person a sense of satisfaction and organization when he/she writes something such as important notes and agendas on paper?

Mobile Phone with Earphones

It is indeed the most useful and handy gadget that a development communicator-in-training might have due to its compact nature and functionality. Not only it can be utilized as a medium for communication with your friends, family members and networks, but it can be used in several situations.
It can be used as a tool for documentation by taking photos, videos, and audios, small editing projects, and lastly for planning purposes. Let us not forget the role of earphones which can be used a tool to listen to audio and video recordings whether we need to encode or edit things out.

Laptop

The third item on my list that a development communicator-in-training must have is a laptop. I am not saying that a person should have one but it is advised to have one due to laptops are designed to emulate personal computers by carrying multiple heavy tasks in one, nonetheless indeed more compact, which is indeed very helpful to its users.
Productivity tools can be used in this gadget such as working on documents, spreadsheets, and presentation for our academic requirements; and can be also used in major editing jobs such as creating creative publication materials and videos.

Storage Devices (flash drives, hard drives)

Storage devices are include in my list because they are useful whenever there are times that you will be passing a file or a document from your gadget to another. They are also helpful when you will print documents to printing shops.

Umbrella and water

Of course, as a development communicator-in-training, we are frequently outdoors to look for relevant information that we need in orde to address the problems of the marginalized. So with that in mind, we should also consider our health by bringing umbrella and water because in Los Baños, temperature can spike up to dangerous levels that can cause disorders.
How can we fulfill our duties to help the martinalized if we don’t look after our health, right?
