how to survive devcom exams

Last week, we had to experience preparing for two Devcom exams from DEVC 10 by Ma’am Avril and DEVC 11 by Ma’am Candy. And oh boy, it was really an experience. It was our first time to have an exam from both of these subjects we don’t really know what to expect at all. So, in order to fully prepare yourself for the next few exams, here are 5 things that I did while preparing for them.

Even though you are really not in the mood for studying, at least allot 15-30 minutes of your day browsing through your notes so that you wouldn’t cram for the week before the exam. A month or two of lessons isn’t going to be easy to cram for a week.

In order to survive your exams, do not be afraid to ask for advice from your seniors, especially the ones who also had the same prof as you are having right now. They are the ones who have also gone the same road as you are going through right now, so don’t be afraid to ask for advice on what should you expect for the exam.

If you have already developed a study habit, that’s good! Keep it up. But if still have no clue or you are still adjusting, try to learn with your friends and try learning just by yourself. Try to arrange a study group with your friends where you can all learn from each other and you’ll gain a lot of knowledge based on their perspective on the lessons. It is also a good way to share your insights. Once you tried it out and you don’t feel comfortable being with a group while studying, try studying by yourself. Just make sure that what you are doing really fits your learning style.

Sometimes, not everything that is going to be in the exam is from the slides, so it is important to pay attention. Your professors could also drop a lot of hints on what you should expect on the exam, so it’s better to write them down so you won’t forget about it.

I understand that preparing for an exam is really stressful, but find yourself a way to destress yourself because your brain can’t take up any more information if there will come a time that “gusto nyo nang sumabog at magsabi ng… mga words.” So, whether it is eating, exercising, playing a game, or whatever it is that you find relieving, do it. Just remember to keep it balanced because you still need to prepare and do your other school works 😉
