All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. This time old proverb still remains true today. And Devcom students are no exception; with stress and workloads piling up, taking a breather and a step back definitely helps.
Whenever I am overwhelmed with stress, I often do things that distance myself from the stressors themselves. So the things I do to unwind often involves things that zone me out and give me time to relax.
1. Naps
Naps really zone you out, in a good way. It hits two birds with one stone, for me at least, with it being a way to relax and a way to get some rest as well. Though be wary, naps can often take up a lot of your time… if you really enjoy them. (Like me!)
2. Corpsing
Well, I’m not sure if “corpsing” is a real word. Its just the term me and my tita use whenever we refer to ourselves lying down and doing absolutely nothing. It absolutely works wonders for me. I find myself relaxed whenever I do this. Just try not to fall asleep when you do this though!
3. MUSIC
Music is a surefire way to distance me from my stressors. It relaxes me and takes my mind off things for a while at least. Plus, lip singing never hurt anyone!
4. GAMES
Playing video games has been my pastime ever since I was young. I remember playing Counter Strike 1.6 when I was around 5. And ever since then, I have continuously played games as a form of entertainment and as a way to de-stress.
While being able to unwind and de-stress is crucial to productivity, make sure not to overindulge in these activities! Make sure to put everything in balance and make time for both work and play.
