Good to be Better

<a href="http://IMG-20191205-015925“><a href=”https://ibb.co/nBxvYyL”><img src=”https://i.ibb.co/nBxvYyL/IMG-20191205-015925.jpg&#8221; alt=”IMG-20191205-015925″ border=”0″></a>

Its good to be better. At week 2 of the this weekly write we are tasked to rate ourselves on how we perceived ourselves as a media writer. After a sem, finally at Week no. 18 I have reviewed how I rate myself fromthe beginning. I examined that I rate myself almost all 3 on all the categories of qualities of a good media writer.

A grade of 3 which symbolizes neutral rating due to the fact that I, myself wasn’t confident enough as I have judt started. But after several months of stay and a lot of learning from the beginning up to the last week. I concluded that I have improved myself even in the smallest way possible. I develop myself as a media writer. To write effectively and to write with purpose bearing in mind the possible readers of my writings. I have developed my curiosity, love for people and also seevral qualitied that a media writer should possess. As of this moment. I would rate myself 4, not yet perfect as I know that it is only the beginning of a much more dangerous battles, a battle after in which will develop ourselves to be better and will serve as our purpose as part of the nation.

To be better, is to improve oneself. There may be no abrupt improvement but what makes it so important is that we try to make something better everyday. We form and shape our collective self based from our own learnings from our personal experiences. We ought to perfect ourselves in its fullest extent. In this way, we can fulfill our duty of giving back to our nation.

Each morning is a new beginning, to do things better”

What if?

<a href="http://<a href="https://ibb.co/6W6QVmC"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/6W6QVmC/received-2669513099752429.jpg&quot; alt="received-2669513099752429" border="0"><a href=”https://ibb.co/6W6QVmC”><img src=”https://i.ibb.co/6W6QVmC/received-2669513099752429.jpg&#8221; alt=”received-2669513099752429″ border=”0″></a>

The hype and the energy is overflowing just before the semester had started. I was full of excitement and amusement of how I was about to live the dream of my life. To be one of so called isko’. Never have I ever imagined being one. Yet, as the semester progress on I have these things in mind that I have always asked myself. What if? I haven’t choose UPLB? What if? I took engineering at my own province? Will I be better? Will I be happier? Finally, after a sem had passed I finally found the answer to this question. Which I ought to share as part of my self-tips I wish to apply at the beginning;

1. Trust your decisions

Some were easily bothered by a loy of things going on in their lives that they tend to forget how to enjoy it. I allow myself to develop day by day as I spent my semester here at UPLB. I learnt how to trust my decision and holding firm to what its consequences may be. I learnt to value judgements and to give time for myself to think about weighing things. I think I should’ve applied it for the beginning. There will be no more hesitation.

2. Be Consistent.

What lacks some of my attributes was consistency. Sometimes, I tend to have things out if control as I lost focus to get things done. I learnt in my first semester that if I was going to do something then do it like the first time you do it. With the same excitement, with the same passion.

3. Set priorities.

This one really strikes me hard. I have developed myself to work under pressure and within a small amount of time. I have forgotten to remind myself of setting priorities which will help me manage my time wisely and effectively. Whaf if? I have done it from the beginning I think everything will be much better.

4. Learn to move on.

This reminds me a lot of things from paper grades to examination results. Once an exam havr been returned and the score have been rcorded there is a 0% chance that it can be mend or reversed. The best thing to apply is moving on and getting yourself ready for the next examination. I like yo develop myself individually to cope on low scores to be able to adjust to the situation so that I can make it better if ever a chance is given.

5. Be mindful of dates.

Guess what, this is my main problem this semester. I wish. I had someone who would remind me everytime I have forgotten dates of submissions and deadline. But, University life doesn’t work that way. I need to be independent to remind myself of things that I should accomplished within the given time and date. I need yo cope up with others and to be able to co-exist with others. I should rrmind myself of being able to stand on my own without depending on anyone.

Finally, I think I have done my part for the first semester. I wouldn’t like to end this semester full of regrets and promises. However, I aim to continuously improve myself tk be better everyday and to contribute towards character building and values-laden.

Hometown

My hometown, Ibaan a second class municipality is a small municipality in the province of Batangas. It has 26 barangays in which within a land area of 68.99 square kilometers or 26.64 square miles which constitutes 2.21% of Batangas’s total area. Its population was determined by the 2015 Census was 52,970. Only 1.97% of the overall population of Batangas Province.

According to the Bureau of Local Government Finance, the annual regular revenue of Ibaan for the fiscal year of 2016 was P122,147,502.81 which is 9.90% higher than of 2015 but the increase is relatively lower compared to the increase in 2015 from 2014 (11.61%). Ibaan’s small land area was cultivated mainly by sugarcane crops among any other agricultural crops. Our municipality was known for its indigenous occupation, “lako” or “paglalako” in which can be chronically dated in the early history in which town people of Ibaan called “Ibaenos” produce several kinds of crops to bring it to different places in the province of Batangas.

Devcom Series: How to Chill

images

The period of adjusting from high school life to a life in university is pretty much a challenge for most freshman. They tend to be exposed in various activities which were far from what they used to be in their high school years. Heavy load of activities, readings and reports bombarded students in a way that they ought to forgot how to relax. Thus, drowning themselves to self-sacrificing sleepless nights with help of caffeine and energy drinks.

The eleventh edition of Buhay Devcom: How to Chill will show my top 3 things to done to free yourself from stress and provide relief from the adjustment period.

  1. Treat yourself with a good meal. For others it may be a common thing but for students that get used to living a university life with readings and report and even forgot to treat thyself. It is necessary that we spend some time eating our favorite food or eating at our favorite restaurant in this we can relax and enjoy while adjusting.
  2. Do your interest and hobbies. Others would say that the best way to enjoy university life is to learn while doing things that you love. It is indeed a luxury to find time doing something that suits your interest. Learn how to manage your time in a way that you balance school works and recreational activities. Recreational activities may also be an exercise in which exercising seems to relieve body stress.
  3. Spend time with your family or spend time with God. Family and God should not be a dichotomy when it comes to whom we should spend our time with. Let us lend some of our time especially during Sundays or Sabbath Day to spend it with our love ones if not possible, spend it with our friends and of course, never forget to strengthen the bond of our body and soul (which connects us to God).
