Many people, including family and friends, are wondering what we do in development communication.         It is no longer shocking that many are not actually aware of what Development Communication is and all the things that lie within the realm of this field. But, what really is DevCom? Let’s find out in this new episode of Sinsay, Tara! (John Mark Ayap, Pamela Hornilla, Cherry Marie Baguilat, Sophia Legion)

        What is DEVCOM really?

        In today’s episode of Sinsay, Tara! we featured some responses of students in practice of the course Development Communication in answering what for them is DevCom and what differentiates the course from other communication courses.         For an org activity, Redefy attended a conference about ‘Freedom of Information’. Due to unforeseen circumstances the event was moved MANY hours later. Without much else to do, I decided that I might as well do my Weekly Writes and answer the three most common questions about DevCom: Why DevCom, what jobs can you get from it, and what even is it? Being productive in a snazzy place, why the heck not?

          As students taking BS Development Communication in University of the Philippines Los Baños, many will approach and ask, “What is DevCom?,” “Is it like MassCom, but with a heart?,” or “What jobs/opportunities will you get from taking DevCom course?” At first, we have no idea what to say. After weeks studying, we now have answers to those questions. Here is a video introducing Development Communication and the top three questions answered by BS DevCom freshmen students.
