Feliz Navidad!
The most wonderful time of the year has arrived!
Welcoming the spirit of Christmas, the University of the Philippines Los Baños held its annual lighting ceremony entitled Pasko sa Elbi: Isang Pasasalamat on November 19 with the theme Paskuhan sa Barrio.
Attended by students, staff, faculty, officials and residents near UPLB, the night was filled with fun and smiles as the Christmas tree, the Christmas Village, and the Belen was officially lighted on. Check out the highlights of this activity on this video below. Merry Christmas!

A Roller Coaster Ride
My first month of stay here in UP is a roller coaster ride ALREADY. I already experienced ups and downs, turns and pauses. A mere imagination of staying here for few more years gives me a tickling sensation in my stomach but I can’t tell if it’s from cockroaches or butterflies…or both. I can’t express what I feel through words but let me share my realizations in my month-long stay here. Let me make it clear, short and full of wisdom so take note.
Have a Goal
A student who chose to enter UP without a goal is like a blind going through an unknown path. If you have no destination to look forward to, it will be hard for you to take the next step after choosing UP. A goal, may it either be short-term or long-term, will serve as your compass that will lead you to your dreams.
Trust is a Must
After having a goal, trust is the next thing every Isko/Iska must have. It is the trust in your peers and their hugots/advice, trust in your professors and their tons of assignments, trust in your parents for sending you here and most importantly, trust in yourself and your capabilities. Trust will be your drive to make decisions, the one that will make you move forward and go to better destinations.
Time is a Gift, Treasure It
We always feel like time limits us. It deprives us our rights to do more things. It is a thief. However, if you will look at the other side, time extends our limitations, it gives us space to do more things and it is a blessing. Time is both a thief and a blessing. It depends to you how you will treat it. The only thing I can assure you is that if you treasure time, its worth is more than gold.
Failure is Not the End
You are the author of your own story. How your story will end will be your choice so don’t let anything or anyone dictate your life. Everything is a matter of choice and action. Failure is a chance to learn, think and start again. It will never be an end for it is a doorway to better opportunities and new beginnings.
Enjoy.
JUST. ENJOY.
