Bayan ng Los Baños

Municipality of Los Baños is a 1st class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. Los Baños has been proclaimed by Presidential Proclamation No. 349 as the Special Science and Nature City of the Philippines. Los Baños is a well-known tourist destination, not only for its importance in academics, science and research. Due to the proximity of the town to Metro Manila, the hot spring resorts of Los Baños are frequent weekend or summer getaways for residents of the vast metropolis and tourists from other places in the Philippines and abroad.

My Version of “How to chill?”

University life can be stressful for students. They go under a lot of pressure just to pass their requirements on time, get passing scores in their quizzes and exams alongside their personal duties. It can be hard as sometimes these activities come simultaneously. However, stressful it might be, we should still be able to cope up with all of it and enjoy our university life. Here are some ways on how to chill:

  1. Take a brief walk
Taking a brief walk can take your mind out of things. Personally, when I feel drained after finishing my classes, instead of riding a jeepney, I walk home. I also take a rest and sit at the freedom Park to clear my mind. Therefore, I’m thankful for our university’s rich vegetation.
  2. Read
Reading personally relives my stress. Put away Acads related readings and read whatever literary work you like. Just enjoy the journey. No note taking and highlighting. Just letting the piece take you to places, feel mixed emotions, and temporarily disconnects you from this stressful world.
  3. Listen to Soothing Music
It is said that music has a calming effect, so, when stressed I listen to music. I like to listen to piano instrumentals may it be classical compositions or just a cover of any song. It is also said that soft music lets you meditate and think about things. However, listening to any music genre you prefer, not necessarily “soft music,” is also good.
  4. Spend time with friends and family.
Spending time with family and friends is very helpful in relieving stress. You get to confide with them and share whatever you are going through, may it be good or bad. Knowing that there are people who got your back is also motivating.
  5. Sleep
Exams, quizzes, requirements, and readings do give us sleepless nights. So, personally, when I get the chance to rest and get a good sleep, I grab it. I take a rest and get ready for a new set of activities to finish.

07: Interview with Tourism officer-in-charge of Banamos

Mr. Jonathan Natividad at the HimigSikan event.

As the 18th Banamos Festival comes to a start, we were able to interview Jonathan Natividad, the tourism officer-in-charge and coordinator of the Bailamos event, and ask him some questions regarding the management and development of the festival itself.

As a tourism officer in charge, tourism talaga yung may hawak sa monetary evaluation and correction, kasi hindi porket kami yung sa tourism kami yung lahat humahawak. Kada event meron kaming committee chairman. For example, sa Mr. and Ms. Los Banos. Pero me particularly, although in charge ako sa lahat, sa Bailamos ako talaga yung pinili ni mayor kasi it’s a dance contest. Siyempre, headed by our honorable mayor Caesar P. Perez.

Ano yung mga problemang inyong hinaharap?

This year, kung ano yung mga nangyari nung past years ay mangyayari ulit ngayon, pero we will make sure naman na may bago. So yung unity dapat nandun. And then, in connection with that, yung mga singers namin they will have this big production number. Na parang aside from their place during the competition itself meron silang parang performance na sama sama sila lahat. So maipapakita nila na although they’re magkakalaban nandun sila sa isang layunin na magbigay ligaya at maishowcase kung ano yung meron ang mga talento dito sa bayan ng Los Banos.

This year, meron kaming search for Palengke Queen, at Toda Queen.

Ayun yung dinagdag natin, ‘Search for the Palengke Queen and Toda King’.
