THE HOME OF TAGUIGEÑOS | Weekly Writes

Think big. Dream big.

For the past years, this has been the vision of one of the growing cities in the Philippines—Taguig.

The city of Taguig is commonly known for being highly urbanized. But beyond the high-rise buildings and popular attractions lies the home of the thousand Taguigueños who think big and dream big.

Ting!ting!ting!Here comes the Golden Bell

Cabuyao City was known before as the “Richest Municipality in the Philippines”. This was due to the fact of the large imigrants who work in the city. There are also lots of industrial estates in the city which include Nestle Philippines, Asia Brewery, Inc., San Miguel Corporation, Tanduay Distillers, Inc., Wyeth Philippines, Inc., Procter and Gamble Philippines, Light Industry and Science Park of the Philippines and Malayan Colleges.

Not only these are the highlight of the city but also people themselves. Cabuyao is known for hardworking and hospitable citizens that in every week the plaza or town proper is filled with vendors and locals that buy different products and supplies.

it also caters different types of festivals such as:

Batingaw Festival – A festivity commemorating the legendary Kampanang Ginto which Cabuyao is known. The celebration always starts with the simultaneous ringing of church bells, which Cabuyeños believe that it brings good agricultural harvest.

Cabuyao Day – It consists a week long celebration starting from a Parade of Floats of each barangay, in which the decorations of each float feature and showcase the way of living of the community of each barangay of Cabuyao. Followed by Street Dancing Competition at the City Proper, in which all College and High Schools compete for the said competition. The celebration also includes different amateur shows like Orchestra, Music Band and Celebrity shows at the City Plaza.

That is why as a cabuyeña I am loud and proud to represent cabuyao it is a perfect epitome of a city that is industrial yet still showcases how hard working the people are and how lively the city is.

IN A POT FULL OF GOLD, BE THE POT.

The old tale says the name of Calamba City was derived from miscommunication, combining the words “kalan” and “banga” that eventually became “Calamba”. The old tale became the key to one of the trademarks that lasted through years of my hometown. The giant pot.

The title that I gave for this article roots from the fact that Calamba is not just a site where you can find a big pot in the City Plaza but also because this city is home to many golden treasures like great places to be and great people to be with.

Join the quick tour through one of Laguna’s finest and the national hero’s hometown, Calamba City!
