Alongside the last gleaming rays of the sun, its sea of cogon illuminates golden light scattering them to the ground as seeds of hope.

The Pearl of the Orient has many secrets. One such secret is hidden behind rolling hills, mountains, pristine lakes and roaring rivers. A glittering crown in the South endowed with precious gems representing the vibrant culture and the diversity of its people. The capital city of the Land of the Dreamweavers where dreams exist beyond sleep.

An agro-industrial city with a land area of 284.25 (Sq. Km.) and is the main crossroad to other key points in Southern and Central Mindanao, Koronadal City is South Cotabato’s center for finance, business, education, services and government institution as well as the new seat of Region XII or SOCCSKSARGEN. Converted into a component city in the year 2000 and is composed of 27 barangays, Koronadal city is the fast developing growth center of the province in terms of political, cultural and socio-economic activities.

Adjudged as the most competitive small-sized city in the Philippines last 2003 and as 2005’s most Business-friendly city in Mindanao, Koronadal boasts of its favorable geographical location rich in human and natural resources and its potentials conducive for trade, business and industry. It is blessed with scenic spots with high potential for tourist attractions. Among these is the Si-Ok Falls and other waterfalls in Barangay Saravia and Barangay San Jose, Caves in Barangay San Jose, Sulfur hot springs and a golf course in Barangay Mambucal, delicious buko halo-halo that line up in its highway and many more. The lead center for industrialization and a catalyst for development in the second district of South Cotabato, its stable peace and order condition provides a favorable climate for more investments.

A melting pot of different cultures from the mystical chants of the Blaan, the magnificence and royal garbs of the Maguindanaons, to the cheers and merrymaking of the early Christian settlers from Ilocos and Iloilo, the city is home to these differences which is its primal strength united under the T’nalak cloth (the woven cloth made from abaca and is inspired by dreams). Unity in Diversity. It is the setting for the famous T’nalak festival (July 18) and the Hinugyaw Festival (January 10) dubbed as the “Festival of festivals.” Both are celebrations of the different cultures that has dwelled on the fertile valley of Koronadal for many years.

Wow, Cabuyao!

In my 18 years of existence, the city of Cabuyao in the province of Laguna has been my home.

Cabuyao, Laguna was recognized as the country’s richest municipality before. The known cities such as Calamba, Santa Rosa, and Biñan were once part of the known town, ‘Tabuko’. Tabuko was discovered by Franciscans back then while they were exploring around Lake Ba-i or presently known as Laguna de Bay. Throughout the years, it was then named after an abundant tree in the town which is a citrus tree commonly used as the local natives’ shampoo. Thus, they called it ‘Kabuyaw’.

DAMBALASEK PIS!
