Doing something non-acad related activities such as painting, photography, or baking can really take away your stress. Making time for your hobbies are a great way to unwind and chill while also being productive. Personally, I find painting and sketching really relaxing.
2. Have your well-deserved comfort food
Whether it be ice cream or chicken wings, eating your favorite food can really ease your worries and relieve your stress. Indulging in your cravings is a fail-safe way to de-stress and lighten up your mood.
3.Sleep
College students are often sleep-deprived. This contributes a lot of the stress that we are experiencing, so make sure that you catch up on sleep once you’re done with your tasks.
For some, entering college (UP) is like digging your own grave. It will test your limits in physical, emotional and mental health. Exams, papers, quizzes and other requirements will exhaust you so it is a must that you know how to give yourself a break.
There are many ways to treat yourself but here are some that are proven and tested by yours truly:
Communicate
Your family and friends are always behind your back to support you. It is okay to open up and vent out all the things that makes you feel bad. Communication will not only make you feel better but will bring you closer to them as well.
Stressed=Desserts
Don’t have a second thought on buying that sweets! We all have our favorite foods but desserts are the ones that make our moods lighter. Chocolates, cakes or milktea, go grab it ‘cos you deserve it.
Watch/Listen/Read
These three activities are good escape from reality. Crossing-out an episode from a series you are watching, reading a new book or dancing to a good music will make you forget all the deadlines even for just a short period of time. Doing these three will give you that rollercoaster ride for an hour or two.
Go for a Stroll
Elbi is a very beautiful place to de-stress (how ironic right?). Just feel the heat of the sun or the cold breeze at night and let your mind wander. Take a walk and observe what people are doing and you’ll find peace in them.
Sleep
Of course the best thing to give yourself after beating the deadlines is a good sleep. This is the way to rest both of your mind and body. After good hours of sleep, you’ll find yourself more focused and productive for the rest of the day.
Melodies of rich heritage resonated the Multi-Purpose Center as students and teachers of Los Baños gracefully performed different cultural presentations during the “KASskwela: Kultura, Awit, at Sayaw pampa-Kuwela ng mga Estudyante” last September 20, in line with the celebration of the 18th Bañamos Festival.
Twenty-one (21) schools from Elementary to Senior High showcased their talents through various acts of traditional dances and songs – Pandanggo, Singkil, and Jota Batangueña to name a few – highlighting the rich Philippine culture.
Franco del Castillo, Head Organizer of the program, said in an interview, “Sa panahon ngayon medyo bihira ang ganitong pagtatanghal, layunin ng Department of Education (DepEd) na maimulat ang mga estudyante [sa mga okasyong] nagpapakita ng kulturang Pilipino… para malaman nila ang ating kulturang pinagmulan.” Castillo also described that students engaged in providing cultural presentations enabled them to relive the past.
In an interview with Maria Luisa Mojado, DepEd Representative from the Los Baños district office, she stated that the program helps students and the youth to become aware of the Philippine culture. Mojado added that the nation’s culture is important and that it should not be forgotten, rather it be promoted.
One student from Los Baños National High School emphasized the importance of knowing our local and national culture as a reflection of our history and how it has shaped Filipino identity. “Sa kasaysayan niya man, mula noon hanggang ngayon, ang kultura ang nagsilbing paraan upang tayo ay makilala bilang ‘diverse’ na bansa,” he stated. “May iba’t-iba tayong kultura na nagpapakita ng mga kayamanan ng pinanggalingan nila.”
The program is one of the activities conducted in this year’s Bañamos Festival which commemorates the establishment of the municipality; exhibiting its history and defining itself as “The Science and Nature City”.
It’s that time of the year again! *insert Jose Marie Chan*

Development in general is very broad since it is present in different aspects of living. However, choosing the right development-oriented topic is still difficult and confusing. So how could we say that the topic we have in mind is a development-oriented one?
Ms. Riezl Jermaine Monteposo from the Batch 18 stated that a development-should be the following:
1. Timely– It’s important that the topic you’re going to work on is relevant to the community you’re addressing it to.
2. Biased for the marginalized– Whatever topic you may decide upon, it must always, always be of help to your stakeholders- in our case, the marginalized.
3. Purposeful– In pursuing a topic, you must know why you’re doing it. It may be that you want to promote a certain culture of a community, or raise awareness about a particular issue- whatever it is, know thy purpose.
It’s that time of the year again mga ka-bidet. Pasko na!
This episode of Banyo Conyo will feature the UPLB Christmas Lighting Ceremony. Damhin ang lamig ng simoy ng hangin dulot ng kapaskuhan by watching the video above.
16 weeks have passed since we first evaluated ourselves regarding our skills and qualities as media writers. Looking back, there were many aspects in which I’m not entirely confident with, hence, not giving those unos. The first semester of being a Devcom student was truly challenging, but as I write this last blog post, I can’t help but realize how meaningful and helpful those requirements I used to worry a lot; those things helped me grow not only as a development communicator, but more so, as an individual.
For my qualities, I have improved in being curious or inquisitive, imaginative, loves to read, interested in and loves people, and service-oriented. I believe that these things have been largely influenced with how my professors emphasized the need for us, Devcom students, to be aware with what’s happening around us. Furthermore, how important it is to connect to people, because after all, Devcom revolves around them.
On the other hand, in terms of my skills, I decided to give improved ratings on validating and clarifying information, writing clearly and effectively, and proficiency in the operation of communication tools/devices. All these thanks to Devc 11 lecture and exercises!
Sixteen weeks have passed; it was just 4 months of being into Devcom but look how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned already. The journey ahead is indeed still long, but I am now more than ever convinced that it will be worth it, because, why won’t it be when I see myself improving and becoming a better development communicator through time? 🙂
Signing off.
