Pasko sa Elbi

Opening numerous presents under the Christmas tree, singing different songs with my family, and never failing to complete the Simbang Gabi – indeed, Christmas is one of the holidays I’ve always been waiting for ever since I was a kid.

That’s why attending this year’s Pasko sa Elbi thrilled me a lot. Being able to witness it with my friends was definitely one of the most memorable moments I will treasure, despite the stress it caused us while trying to document it. (LOL)

Come with me and together, let’s witness the beauty of this year’s Pasko sa Elbi!

Kalan at Banga: Welcome to Calamba!

Legend says that at about the turn of 16th century, two Spanish soldiers came to a village by the shore of Laguna de Bay. Attracted by the vast plain with verdant greeneries that spread up to a majestic mountain, the strangers became curious to learn the name of the place. Soon there came a native young lady carrying an earthen jar by her waist. Seizing the opportunity, the two soldiers inquired in Spanish from the young lady the name of the place.

Frightened with the sight of white strangers in colorful uniforms, the native damsel got confused. Thinking that the soldiers were asking what she was carrying, she answered nervously “Kalamba…Kalamba..” referring to the earthen jar she was clasping by her waist.

Since then the small village on a vast plain close to Laguna de Bay has been known by the name of Kalamba which is now known as the City of Calamba.

Come and take a look as I showcase one of the historical places in Laguna, our National Hero’s hometown, the City of Calamba!
